Clear My Record is a free, online nonprofit product built by Code for America, for people with a criminal record in select California counties.

There are an estimated 2 million people who are eligible to clear convictions from their records. Our goal is to help remove barriers for eligible applicants so they may qualify for new jobs, housing, and educational opportunities.

How it works

Using Clear My Record is easy for both applicants and attorneys. Here’s how we work with your county:

Receive new applications

County partners (you) receive a daily email digest of new or unopened applications for your county. You can easily print them all at once.

Partners check eligibility

Clear My Record applications include all the information partners need to pull an applicant’s history and determine eligibility and next steps.

Communicate next steps

Through Clear My Record, county partners can email or text applicants to communicate eligibility, case status, and next steps.
